[Soma - Blacklight (Short Cut)]

Wonderful, Keep Going

That deep bass is so clean and smooth oh my god. This sounds like a fantastic build up, rather than a full song. This is very well done and very well mastered. I can see a lot of great things coming from you. I can see you are just starting out, as your userpage says, so I will do my best to tell you how you can improve on this.

First of all, as of now its practically perfect. At 1:05 it filters off into a deeper beat with added background SFX and sends a sense of euphoria near 1:45... impressive shit. This reminds me so much of the oceanic trance tiesto made in his Search of Sunrise 7 album. I say oceanic because it gives this sort of ocean like feel, as if you are wondering deep inside the ocean dancing with thousands of fish around this gigantic orb. Trippy stuff. ;)

At 3:00 I think you should continue this song instead of ending it. There are so many things you can do here, like putting in a trance lead. This is where you can improve. PM me if you want, I am already a gigantic fan. This is great.

Sick

The pad in the beginning was made really well. This is fruity loops right? This is fucking sick man. After 50 seconds it has a nice, chillax chaotic beat. Yeah, you can have something chill and chaotic at the same time. Nice use of 8-bit *8bit can be squarewave btw and trianglewave* after 1:40. This would be a great song for a flash game here on Newgrounds. I hope that it is recognized enough to be seen as that. I enjoy how mixed this song is, never repeating anything unnecessary while still maintaining that sweet drum n' bass feeling.

Very nicely done. The improvements that could be made are simply making that drum n bass a bit more epic, perhaps by building up to a lead louder than the squarewave while kicking it with an original, heavy duty beat. Think electric guitar over DNB. Should be sweet man. This song can really be "turned up" if you know what I mean.

First of all, I'm not using FL - It's all about Reason 4 for me ;). Second of all, the squarewave sound-thingy does indeed sound very gameish, but I just got upset about that review earlier. "Very good song, here I give you 6" doesn't really convince me :/.

I'd love to see this on a Flash game. Actually, a guy already PMed me asking to use it in a game he's making so we'll see if it pops up in the FP sooner or later ^^!

And well, not entirely sure how to epicify* (newly invented word lol) the song. There's two different leads before the breakdown, wouldn't a third be a little too much? I definetly see what you mean but I'm not sure myself to be honest :S. I thought the song was borderline too long already xD, I even decide to remove 40 seconds or so before uploading the song (yea it originally was over 5 min :P). But still, I think I understand what you mean and I'll take it into consideration for the next song I make (which isn't gonna be in a near future since I have to take a break cuz of school :/)

Scooby Doo lmao.

I loved the recording of Shaggy talking in the beginning. The lyrics are really overdone because it is all about being a rapper and making music on how you want to make it. This has been done so many times its ridiculous, however this time it was done well. Just keep rolling and do your own thing. If someone has something to say about it, ask them to say it to your face because you shouldnt give a fuck. Do want you want to do and don't let society hold you down about it. If you want to be a stripper, hell be a stripper.

Anyway, the beat mixed with the trombone and piano was a real nice mix. The rapping was very clear and understandable, showing that you are very experienced. I might even want you to help me make this quirky rap I wrote about a guy bombing a building... straight up. Lol.

Keep it up bro. Pants on the ground. Best line ever. Congrats on top of the week.

Thanks I usually do songs about depression and stuff you know emo rap but I had to kind of switch it around with the beat haha a guy bombing a building I could do that I made a song about a guy fighting the devil so thats nothing

Experimental Sounding Good. Awesome.

Have you been experimenting with that 3D plugin? Or is it just 2D panning? This is my favorite of yours so far. It is enjoyable to listen to, which is VERY rare for industrial *for me at least* Not only have you gone into an experimental dubstep song, but you have made it sound good. Experimental sounding good is like orgasms everywhere. I enjoyed how hard you seemed to work on this. The sumbarine sounding effect at 1:43 was AMAZING. I loved it dude.

Keep it up with your awesome work. This should be the first one youve done that DESERVES top of the week... lolol. ;)

Soften it up a bit.

The thing I have a problem with is that it is a bit to distorted, and remains that way. I think that in order to enjoy an experimental, distorted song, you must remember to vary between soft and hard. If it remains hard throughout the entire song, it starts tog et annoying and to harsh on the ears. Try applying filters that soften up the harshness a bit, and filters it to where it goes from soft to hard, hard to soft, soft to hard e.t..c

Then again, experimental can really go everywhere. I could see this being used in a flash, and that is really the purpose for these sort of songs. It loops very well, I didnt even realized it had looped. Very odd song, I like that.

Keep It Up

There was a lot of things going on at once in this song. So many things were going on that it seemed to peak at some points, but you managed to keep it steady. The bass at 2:14 was very well done, although I noticed some crackling in there, so make sure to change that. This seems to be around 160KBS if im not mistaken. Very trancy with a well done mix.

Industrial Experimentation

Lol spik. You crazy Dubstep bro. This song was very strange. I liked the strangeness of it though. It is very original and different. You used a lot of different sounds, programming, and glitching in here. I loved the part after 1:50 that was so cool the way you distorted the sounds. The percussion in here, as Dj-Nate says, is very well done. Personally I do not like industrial, although am impressed with your mixing and mastering abilities. Keep it up bro.

Good, but needs mastering.

I enjoyed this track mainly because it had a nice progression to it, and I love progressive personally. It was the usual generic stuff you hear now a days, although sometimes there isnt anything wrong with generic. I think its really cool that if you listen to the #1 song of the week on the audio portal main page and let it continue down into the #2 song, they both tie into eachother very well. It is kind of like a classic Tiesto buildup. *RIP Tiesto* I wish that the song could have had a bit of mastering in it,which was really the only problem. Mastering, however, is a large problem! Not mastering can sometimes ruin the listening experience. There are parts there that are to high in volume such as 1:55 - 2:20. Plus, that part really disrupted the song from its normal balance of progressive trance. It really turned it into a hardstyle without hardstyle qualities.

Basically, the best advice I can give is that when you make your pads / synths, make sure they sound good with headphones and speakers. If they hurt the ears a bit, have to high frequencies *such as the pad that comes in at 4:50* then do not use them. Do your best to make pads and synths that sound EARGASMIC, pleasant to the ears. :)

I did enjoy the notes you played, however, and liked the atmosphere of the whole thing. Good luck with your collab with F-777 and keep improving.
